Broker’s Comments:

The Solaris 55 fills the brief for an easily handled yacht that can be easily sails shorthanded. The hull lines are powerful, with stability in mind as the yacht heels.

Solaris yachts are well known for their quality, not only in the design and specification of the yacht but also with their construction methods, where almost uniquely, all bulkheads, non-removable furniture and chain plates etc., are resin bonded to the hull, not just tab bonded or with flexible filler. This in turn enables the structure of the yacht to be very strong and the yacht still. Loads are kept well in check, with the 45% ballast ratio on the lead bulb keels added to the wide hull form, making the yacht as stable as can be, and reducing the high heel angles you see on narrower yachts.

All sail controls are lead back to the cockpit and easy reach of the helm, with the lockers and transom hatch designed by sailors, to give as much room as possible and the largest openings. In fact the entire yacht is more akin to a tardis with abundant storage down below.

ZENON is a very high specification yacht. She has many USP’s, among which are a bank of inlaid solar panels on the coachroof which generate 536 Wp of electricity.

The Carbon rig lowers the centre of gravity and adds righting moment, less pitch and roll at anchor, and reefing later than the equivalent aluminium mast.

Other high points on the specification are the ecologically sound Esthec decks that are cool to walk on, keep heat out of the interior, are very easy to maintain and will continue to look fresh, without the need for expensive replacement.

ZENON is a lovely yacht, well proven and absolutely ready for the next owner to enjoy performance cruising and light hearted regatta racing.

Owner’s Comments:

We had a lot of fun with her!

In light wind as well as in rough conditions she is very stable, safe and easy to handle. We sailed in this short period more than 16,000 sea miles with her and used her as our home during the summer period in the Mediterranean Sea.

Construction:

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Hull and Deck constructed in sandwich composite construction using E-glass and PVC Airex core allowing the construction of a light hull, which withstands the multi-directional loads much better and is far more rigid than other simple laminated constructions.
  • The core consists of a closed cell Airex foam of different densities preventing moisture to enter into the construction in case of a damage.
  • The lamination process and bonding with the sandwich of hull and deck is done through a vacuum bagging process.
  • In the high load areas reinforcements with unidirectional and bi-directional Carbon are used (chain plates, main bulkhead keel laminate) and core is replaced with a higher density foam or marine plywood.
  • The main bulkhead and the forward bulkhead are in composite using an Airex core.
  • The water lines are in Gelcoat or painted with polyurethane, colour grey.
  • All composite and plywood bulkheads are resin bonded and laminated to the hull and deck. This type of construction guarantees superior stiffness and strength.
  • Deck material is Esthec.
  • Hull colour is light grey.
  • Bottom treatment – Dolphin S from RENOLIT antifouling hull wrap film.
